Weather...or Not?

To all of you sweltering back in the U.S., last night's temperatures went into the 40s, with today's high not out of the 60s. Yes, this is Africa...but we're in the Kenyan winter, so even though we're not too far from the equator, we're still experiencing much cooler weather than most Americans associate with Africa. And don't forget- the continent of Africa is HUGE, with many varying climates and weather patterns. One size definitely does not fit all. Too many Tarzan movies, I guess... our collective impressions formed by films and TV and books which so often present "Africa" as deep, dark jungle. We really have to learn more about world geography, don't we? Teachers and parents out there, take heed! Others seem to know so much more about us than we do about them...hm-m-m-m...real food for thought.
