Learning more & more about the Kenyan culture...Today's visit to Liverpool Volunteer Community Training center and our meeting wih Jane Thiomi and Lucy regarding the home care aspect of this HIV/AIDS diagnosis, tratment & education organization was both fun and enlightening. We learned a lot and laughted a lot, sharing our female perspectives on culture, health education, HIV/AIDS, sex, marriage, polygamy and the differing view on relationships in the U.S. and Kenya.
We covered lots of ground, to be sure. We connected...something which seems to be the almost-exclusive purview of women, regardless of cultural background or context. And Jane effectively and hilariously closed the conversation with the remark, "We Kenyans just love sex!" as she and Lucy high-fived one another, dissolving in laughter. As I said, both fun & enlightening.
